Miss Maudie portrays the theme of appearance vs. reality because you would think that she was just an old bitter person who didn't want anything to do with anyone else but she is actually a very kind person. She lets Scout, Jem, and Dill play on her lawn and eat her scuppernongs as long as they don't jump on the arbor. Miss Maudie is a wise role model for Scout because she is a respectful person to everyone even Boo Radley. She says that he was really nice to her no matter what other people said he did. Miss Maudie and Atticus are similar because neither of them judge people. They both know that people always have other problems going on in their lives besides what everyone else sees. They both also treat Jem, Scout, and Dill like real adults and not like children like most people would. They are different however because Miss Maudie doesn't do anything when she sees the children playing the Radley game. Atticus however does not want them to play that game because he doesn't want them to be making fun of the Radley family. He gets mad when he finds out they are messing with Boo Radley. 4) I did not find anything confusing in chapters four and five. 5) Appearance vs. reality with Miss Maudie. 6) Simile, when Scout crashes into the Radley's yard it says, "The tire bumped gravel, skeetered across the road, crashed into barrier and popped me like a cork onto pavement."

Miss Maudie looks old mean snappy but she's truly nice and she's not mean and snappy. She is a good role model because she is always very nice to the kids making them little cakes. Miss Maudie and attucis are similar because they both respect the children the same way and they both like having justice.

Miss Maudie seems like an angry, mean, and old lady, yet in reality she is a sweet and caring, especially to kids. For example, on page 57, Miss Maudie bakes cakes for them. This shows that since she did this in her own time just to put a smile on a kid's face proves that she is sweet. She does not care when the neighborhood kids run through her yard even though she takes time to plant the flowers. She is like Atticus because she never judges and always listens to people's point of views. She is almost like a mother or a grandmother to Scout and a good friend of Atticus. Then they start talking about Boo Radley which could possibly be foreshadowing bout him.

Miss Maudie demonstrates appearance versus reality because she looks old and mean. You'd think upon first sight that she is a mean, bitter old lady that doesn't want anything to do with anyone, when in reality, she's respectful of other people and their beliefs and treats Jem and Scouts as if they are adults. She doesn't judge Scout when she asks a question, she answers them to the best of her ability. She is similar to Atticus because they both treat everyone with respect and don't mind being asked questions, except when it comes to Boo Radley. Atticus won't answer any questions Scout has about Boo. He tells them to just leave him alone. Miss Maudie will answer any questions Scout has about Boo. She is comfortable discussing the topic. I didn't find anything confusing. An example of appearance versus reality is when Scout finds out the truth about Boo Radley. Which contradicts what most people say about him.

Period 3
Miss Maudie helps portray the theme of appearance vs. reality by acting like she is a mean old lady but on the inside she is extremely nice and humble towards Jem and Scout. She loves everything that grows on “God’s green earth” except for one kind of weed. She is a very wise role model for Scout because she does not embrace everything that people are saying about Arthur Radley and instead tells Scout that he was a very nice boy. She also told Scout that people were just making up bad things about Arthur because they were scared of him. Miss Maudie and Atticus are similar because they both think of the Radley different from the rest of Maycomb. Unlike the rest of Maycomb they have respect and respect their wishes for privacy, which is why Atticus got angry at Jem, Scout, and Dill for trying to get Arthur Radley out of his house so they could talk. They are different because Miss Maudie always had time for Scout and talked to her about anything whereas Atticus had to be more of a father figure. I did not find anything confusing in this book. The theme I chose was innocence vs. reality because Jem, Scout, and Dill mean good by trying to get Arthur Radley come out but they actually would be making things worse. My literary element is foreshadowing because the kids keep trying to get Arthur to come out, maybe he will.

She is an example of appearence vs reality because she looks mean but she is not mean. She is a good role model for scout because she does not judge people and she is patient. Both her and Atticus respect Scout and Jem but Atticus treats them like grown ups but Miss Maudie treats them like children.

Miss. Maudie helps portray appearance vs. reality because she looks like a mean old lady, but in reality she is nice and helps explain many things to Scout. She is like Atticus because she also says not to judge people until you know the full story. She is also a good role model to Scout because she not only says what is right, but does what is right. She tells Scout about the Radley's aren't mean, they just keep to themselves and it may be for religious reasons, like reading and completely living by the bible.

Miss Maudie helps portray the image of appearance vs. reality because she old and most old people are very stubborn. She cares about her plants very much so you would think that she would not let the children play in her yard, but that is the exact opposite. She lets them play in her yard as longs she doesn't hurt her plants. She also bakes them cakes. She is a very wise and great role model for Scout because she tells her that you shouldn't judge a person by appearance, rumors, or what they do. This is a very important life lesson for Scout. Miss Maudie is similar to Atticus because they are both great role models for scout and they both teach her not to judge people. They are different because Miss Maudie hates her house (p.56) and also attics spends more time with Scout. 4. One thing I found confusing was when Scout rolled into the Radley's house she heard laughter. Also her and Jem kept finding things in the tree in the Radley's yard. 5.There is a theme of appearance vs. reality because Miss Maudie seems to be a grumpy lady, but she is actually very wise. 6.One literary element is Foil which is an opposite of the main character.

Edgar Villalobos 3rd Maudie appears like a old, mean woman but in reality she is nice and thoughtful and she is a good roll model because when something bad happens she stays calm and listens. She is also very wise like atticus, they both have the same morals of respect. They both give very good advice as well. I think the advice of both miss Maudie and atticus will help scout one day. 4.I didn't find anything confusing 5. appearance vs reality, boo looked like a bad person but it was just his religion that made him stay in doors. 6. foreshadowing because of the good luck of the Indian penny

Miss Maudie helps portray appearance vs. Reality because she is more mean looking and she seems grumpy. Though in reality she is nice and she also helps the kids and tells them things they need to know. Not only does she portray the theme because of her own character appearance, but she also helps by telling the kids not to judge Boo Radley because what they see on the surface might not be what it is on the inside. She doesn't like it when they call him "Boo" because she thinks it is disrespectful. She tells Scout that when he was younger he was nice and respectable. She is a role model for Scout because she knows her place. She teaches Scout lessons on life and how things happen and what, and what not to do. Miss Maudie and Atticus Finch are similar because they both take care of Scout and Jem. They both teach them lessons and are there to help them with their questions. Miss Maudie and Atticus Finch are different with each other because while Miss Maudie is more of a friend, Atticus plays the role of the father. They also have different opinions and different religious perspectives. An example of a appearance vs. reality is how Miss Maudie defends Boo Radley. An example of a literary element is foreshadowing. They hear all these nasty things about Boo, even though they will eventually find out who he really is.
